If you’re worried about your future

There is only one thing about tomorrow that you can know with certainty. God will be faithful to you. You can plan for tomorrow, and that is a good thing. But tomorrow may not go according to your plan. World events may radically change your life. Your car may not start. Your kids could get sick. Your financial situation could change. Your pet could go missing. The uncertainty of tomorrow is the constant reality of your life. The way you anticipate tomorrow will have an impact on your relationship with your children.

So, instead of being concerned about the uncertain, focus on what you do know about tomorrow. You know that God will be faithful. You know that he will still love you. You know that your sins are forgiven in Christ. These things will never change.

You and I don’t have any special knowledge about tomorrow. What we do know is that God’s word tells us to focus on seeking his kingdom today and tomorrow will take care of itself. Your God does not take coffee breaks. You can believe that what he says is true. Ultimately, it is foolish to live as if we know what tomorrow will bring. Even if tomorrow brings the unexpected, the loving commitment of God to you will not change.

Take the Holy Spirit at his word:
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you…
Psalm 121:3-5
