I know what you’re thinking… It’s way too soon to be talking about Christmas! We haven’t even celebrated Thanksgiving yet!
And while that may be true, there’s a question that many parents want answers to far before we get to December. That’s because children everywhere have started their Christmas lists. And you’re asking this: Is it okay to talk to my children about Santa Claus?
This is the question that Kirk Cameron is answering in his weekly video series inside the exclusive community called The Campfire. Kirk unashamedly loves Christmas and everything that comes along with it. So, what does he think about Santa Claus?
“It’s a great time of year to teach your kids the essentials and the principles behind our Christmas traditions.” He continues, “It’s also a great time to tell people about the history of Saint Nicholas… Santa Claus.”
While secular culture may try to turn Santa Claus into nothing more than a jolly old elf who gives gifts or coal, we can’t forget the real story connected to this red-suited philanthropist. He was a Christian minister who exemplified Christ-like attributes, and parents can share this beautiful story with their children!
Kirk actually made a movie, Saving Christmas, that shares the history of Santa Claus, the Christmas tree, and even ornaments. He says that if we share this with our children in the right way, it will not distract from the real meaning of Christmas, but add to it!
