In case you needed any more reason to be awed at the beginning of human life, a video from Northwestern University shows what happens when an egg is fertilized. And it’s something you may have never realized.
“When a human sperm cell makes contact with an egg, a flash of light is produced, which indicates that the egg has been successfully fertilized and can now develop into a healthy embryo,” the video explains.
It goes on to describe the why behind the light: “The spark occurs when the fertilized egg releases billions of zinc atoms at the exact moment of conception.”
Does anyone else see the irony? Light was the first thing God created in the beginning of the creation story. Light is the first thing that happens when a new life is created.
