As we open our homes to our friends and family this Thanksgiving, we must not forget those who do not have a home or the ability to host their loved ones.
This was the story of Alexandria Milner, age 24, an army veteran, and a mother of two. Milner told WMAQ-TV that she served in the military for three years before having two children with another soldier. After his death, her life took a turn for the worse. She was soon homeless, living in her car.
Fortunately, she recently moved into a house with the help of the Veteran’s Administration, though she still could not afford simple necessities like a bed for her children. Then, something amazing happened.
Humble Design, an organization that helps families coming out of homeless and abuse shelters by furnishing their homes, gave Milner a wonderful gift just in time for the holidays.
