I am blown away.
Two days ago, we launched THE HEART OF FAMILY, an online video course taught by Kirk and Chelsea. We prayed that God would use this course to restore hurting relationships, to encourage thriving marriages, and to provide biblical wisdom for parents across the country, and even the world. While I was confident that God would answer this prayer according to His will, I was blown away by the response.
When you sign up to take the course, you have an opportunity to “get to know each other.” I began scrolling through comments and stories and y’all (excuse my Texas), it is the most beautiful thing I’ve read in a long time.

Stories of pain, raw honesty, hunger, and desperation. One after another, women and men began sharing why they are taking this course. I wouldn’t say these are stories of broken marriages. These are stories of courageous marriages. These are people that are not ready to give up on their husband or their wife. These are couples that want God’s best for their children.
I was so encouraged that I had to share a few with you:
“I am a military wife with two children. The constant distance and separation in our marriage has caused a lot of strain and tension. I signed up for this course to learn how to create a loving and nurturing environment for both my husband and kids.
I have been a “christian” my whole life … but to be honest I have not always followed the Lord or allowed Him to guide me. I am praying for His help and guidance on this journey. I look forward to learning and growing in Christ.”

“My husband and I have been together 9 years and we have 4 children. We came into marriage with a lot of unresolved baggage which has led us to a dark season right now. I am hoping this helps both of us.”

“My wife and I been married ten years this month. We have hit some struggles over past couple years off and on. Now we have a 4-year-old daughter. I am here because I need to work on being better husband and could use everyone prayers. We are currently on a break and I am not sure how to heal my home right now. We are very blessed, but definitely in the more difficult season of life, with mortgage payments, toddlers, and all the stuff that goes with being still newly married with little ones running around. I am looking forward to taking this course, and learning how to keep moving forward from a Godly married couple who has been at this point before me.”

Each story, no matter if it was a story of divorce or of a happy, strong marriage and family, moved me to tears. Why? Because it was made clear to me, more than ever before, that the power of Christ’s love in our lives is so strong, and every single one of us desperately long for it in our relationships with our spouse, our children, and our Creator. This type of love has the ability to shape us, to break us, and to create something totally new in our hearts.
I’ve only been married for a year and a half, though I can confidently say that the love that exists between a husband and a wife is supernatural. It’s a gift given to us directly by God. I know that Ryan and I have challenging seasons ahead of us, and I hope to always fight for our love like these course participants are fighting for theirs.
