As wildfires rage in California, firefighters from near and far are putting their lives on the line to battle them. That wasn’t lost on one local woman, whose random act of kindness is now reverberating across the country.
The City of Colton (California) Fire Department was recently fighting the La Cadena Fire in La Loma Hills when they took a much-deserved dinner break and headed to Denny’s. There were about 25 of them, and they racked up a $355 bill. But not one of them had to get out their wallets. That’s because an anonymous woman had already told the Denny’s staff that she wanted to pick up the tab.
“This woman paid for the meal of all of the firefighters at Denny’s at that time, plus tip for a total of $405; she also paid $100 for dessert for all of the crews,” the department wrote on its Facebook page.
“On behalf of all of the firefighters that worked on the La Cadena Fire from San Bernardino County Fire, Cal Fire, Redlands, Colton, Loma Linda, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, San Manuel, Montclair, Apple Valley, Chino Valley, Upland, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Aviation, and Colton PD, we thank you for your generous show of support,” the post said.
“We are all honored to serve the citizens of our communities.”
